VC – Fomo

The Story.

In this story, Abbey and her friends enjoy extended video chats after their school allows Chromebooks at home. Though initially fun, Abbey faces sleep deprivation, affecting her academic performance and emotional state. The story centres on Abbey’s emotional intelligence journey: her growing self-awareness about her needs for sleep and self-regulation, and her struggle with peer pressure. It leaves readers at a cliffhanger, as Abbey grapples with whether to discuss her concerns with friends, emphasising the complexity of emotional choices in digital interactions.

Emotional Intellegence
  • Recognising and managing own emotions
  • Recognising emotions of others through tone and body language, even in digital communication
  • Building trust in online relationships by being empathetic and understanding of others’ emotions and needs
  • Recognising when someone may be violating your trust online and taking steps to protect yourself
